It has been a good week, a great week in fact, and I can say this before I even hit Friday. There has been more salted peanut butter and choc chop cookies, a great peer mentoring session, meetings with lots of inspirational people and the not insignificant issue of securing a big chunk of the start-up capital I need to launch.
It is exciting times. And slightly scary. But mainly exciting. Suffice to say, momentum is certainly gathering (a sentence I feel I repeat every week) and with this, it is time to make some tough decisions.
One such decision is that I have decided to rebrand A Baked Thesis to more accurately reflect what it is the café will be about. One aspect of this rebranding is its name and it is to you, supporters of my journey, that I call upon for help.
Many of you will have been following my progress, either in person or through regular updates via this blog and/or social media (thank you, I am super grateful for this) so will have a fair idea about the aims and objectives of
A Baked Thesis. To refresh your memory:
Set up by Lauren Roffey, social scientist and self-taught baker,
A Baked Thesis responds to the challenges faced by society today by using a
model that is a change from business as usual, operating in a way to challenge
the dominant way of doing business and changing what is at its core. By
offering customers a fairer, better, more ethical, way to consume without any
concession to quality, A Baked Thesis will utilise the power of business to
create positive social change in Worthing, Adur and West Sussex.
What I am asking for, quite simply, is name suggestions.
I am sure you know what it is like, when you’re so entrenched in something you can’t quite see the wood for the trees, which is why I am asking for your help, to open up my eyes to other possibilities.
To get you started, ideas brought to the table so far include The Cornerstone, Roff’s, Polestar, The Hub and The Meeting Place. All ideas are welcome - pop them in the comments box below, contact me directly, tweet me, send me a Facebook message, whatever way I’ll mull them all over (with friends and wine I would imagine), no doubt become overwhelmed once again, and hopefully, come to a name that is inspirational and sums up perfectly what
Baked Thesis is about.
In advance, thank you so much. At some point I am sure I will repay you all in baked goods.
